I am a new owner of a 2001 Mulholland Blue Prowler. I got it with 170 miles and it only has 396 now, but I was wondering if any of you had any advise for breaking in the engine. Are there things I should/should not be doing? ------------------ Welcome. Get together with Fred & the gang in Houston... Just drive the Kat & Ed has some good advice ... Enjoy the ride... ------------------ ------------------ Dan G. is absolutely right, the AlleyCat Chrome Grill Treatment System will look awesome on your dark blue cat. Only a $10 User Fee, and $10 more bucks or so to install. When buying aftermarket products, always look for the AlleyCat Stamp of Approval,,,,,,your insurance that a rock solid analysis of this product was done by me Next, lightly put the nose of your cat up onto a curb, causing the underside scrathes that most of us have on ours We want you to look and feel like the rest of us! ENJOY THE RIDE ENJOY THE RIDE Marcos - Welcome to POA. Everybody has opinions on breaking in the engine. Check the owner's manual and just use some common sense while you are putting some miles on it. Have fun and try to join the Houston group when you can. You will learn a lot from other owners. (like how to spend more $$$ on it) Alley Cat - what's the deal? Are you getting soft in your old age? "lightly put the nose..." What happened, did someone take your earlier advise tram it on a curb and then sue you and your lawyer - Al Bendover - couldn't win your case? Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ Welcome to POA, don't for get lower, upper braces and bug screen and the Band-Aid for your finger. Enjoy the rides. This message has been edited by BeWare on 07-13-2002 at 02:00 PM Welcome and enjoy the ride!! ------------------ C5 Frank This message has been edited by C5 Frank on 07-15-2002 at 09:24 AM We better get our own avatars, people are going to think we're sharing our car. ------------------ You should consider replace front brake pads with ceramic brake pad too. Congratulations on your new cat and welcome to the POA!!! Let her drive it............she'll change her mind really quick!! lol! ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! you musta spent 50 hrs each! ------------------ ------------------ I am still playing with the signature thingy. if anyone reads this and knows--fill me in! I'm on a mission to figure those things out, Place the following text in your signature : IMG http://witchdr.freeservers.com/images/banner01.gif/IMG Except [] around the IMG and /IMG. If I do that here, the banner appears again. That should make it look like mine here. Also, there's a test area just for this kind of stuff to make sure it works the way you want. That's how i made sure this worked as I'm certinaly not the expert. ------------------ This message has been edited by whealy on 11-11-2002 at 01:17 PM Marcos Hey, ed monahan Marcos, welcome aboard. Just drive it like any other car. Make sure you secure the soft top in the trunk with the tie down straps or else it will vibrate and the carpeting will wear holes in the top.
Put ceramic brake pads on the front only and put mud flaps on all 4 wheels.
Never lean into the car and release the seat back. You will have a headache for days.
Stop a foot or two short of where you think you need to stop.
Don't cut your knuckles on the top of the exhaust tips while washing the back bumpers.
This is all from the voice of experience, as I have been there and done that, some of it several times. RBADKAT Welcome Marcos to the wonderful world of Prowler land.
It nice to see that Ed has got to your first.
Listen to all he has said,(this time, not all the time) he is right on 100%.
The next person you should be hearing from is AC, he will tell you all about the $8.00 chrome grill, trust me he is absolutely right. He will ask for a royalty , just tell him you will pay him later, I still owe him, its been 2 years. I did exactly what AC said to do and it was the best (cheapest, less expensive )appearance addition to the kat that I have made.
You will get a lot form this site, keep posting, reading, and most important is keep on PROWLING.
Welcome, Welcome.

Driving my Dreamsam771 Marco, BeWare Congrats on the new Kat and welcome to the POA CatDude Ed, you forgot one important thing... Check the event calendar and attend an event... Or even just contact a group of local owners for a cruise. The POA is by far the best thing about owning this car!!!
VIRGINIA CAT DUDE '02 SILVER SEE THE LOUISVILLE, KY CD johnny Marcos, Congrats on your Prowler. As Laddie said, get with Fred at www.lordofthelooks.com and he can update you on our up coming events. I hope to see and meet you soon. Fred has a lot of things for us to do the next few months.Johnny&Faye Todd Cameron welcome to the club! TLRandall The third Texas Blue owner in two weeks! Welcome ! C5 Frank Welcome to the POA! Those blue Kats are sweet! I took it kinda easy on my car for 600 miles, then let her rip. Everyone will have a different opinion on that. I believe after several hundred miles the car is ready to go. I changed my oil at just under 1000 also..... just what I have always done. I have my 94' Cobra which I bought new. I broke it in the same way and it has never burned a drop of oil or had any problems with the motor... even with a blower on it, other goodies and many track visits. I'm sure you will get some that say drive it slow for 1000 miles... or you need that breakin oil in the motor for longer... but it has worked for me. Enjoy your Kat.... I know you will.

94' Mustang Cobra Reba-Cat Hi Marcos, welcome to POA! Besides actually getting to drive and ride in such an awesome vehicle....the next best thing is meeting and cruising with all the other awesome/fun folks in the POA. Get to an event.....SOON!! You will love it. You didn't say if you have a significant other or spouse, but get them involved too. I'm a "spouse" and I think I'm just as "fanatical" about the cat as Marty (although I don't spend as much money on it LOL) Marcos Thanks all for the advice. I have the mud flaps on order (it took just one big puddle after hours of washing to show me that was a good idea).
Reba, my fiance does enjoy the Prowler, but I don't think she is nearly as excited as I am just yet (but I'm working on her).TLRandall Hey Marcos, what dealer did you get yours from, I looked at several Mulhollands when I was searching for mine. Just curious.

Candy Red Plate - CJPROWLNBlack Tie 161 I currently own a 300M, (and we are about to trade my wife's car in for a Candy red Prowler)....Anyway, the 300M engine is the same engine, and the general rule for break-in is to drive at varying speeds for the first 500 miles. Do NOT put 500 highway miles on at first. The importance of break-in is varying speeds and conditions. Eric Lesher you fellas got some cool banners...how long did it take to make one?
I tried to hack up something quick in adobe photoshop, but it took 15 minutes and I didn't get far.
